24 years ago, 98.9 The Rock KQRC debuted the first annual Rockfest. Now, it boasts the title of “the biggest one-day Rock festival in America.” 65,000+ screaming Hard Rock/Metal fans pack the grounds at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, MO each year. Some of the biggest acts in the world gather on this stage, leaving you begging for more. This is the day that everyone takes to just enjoy some beer, killer live music and overall good vibes throughout. 15 bands, 2 stages, 12 hours of non-stop, in your face Rock and Metal fills the airwaves, leaving you with an experience unlike any other. The drinks are cheap, you get a chance to meet some of your favorite artists at the autograph booth and the attractions just keep getting bigger. The only question left is: What will 2016 hold for this event? Well, today, we get our answer from Mr. Johnny Dare himself, who has revealed this year’s festivities on The Johnny Dare Morning Show. Below is the line-up and any other info I was able to gather from the radio announcement. Be sure to pop over to the official home of Rockfest, sign up to be a Rockaholic, and pick up your tickets before they sell out! You don’t want to be the only one to miss this one-of-a-kind experience!
Tickets will be on-sale Wednesday, February 10th @ 10am CST for Rockaholics for $27.50 (not including service fees)
Tickets will be on-sale for the rest of the world Saturday, February 13th @ 10am for $47.50 (not including service fees)
Of course… Johnny and the boys will be giving some tickets away, per usual, but you don’t want to wait for that!
Below is a statement from Bob’s Blog, in relation to having Disturbed headlining this year’s event:
“It’s just like Christmas Day at 98.9 The Rock! The entire staff is running around crazy trying to make sure every last detail is taken care of for the Rockfest 2016 roll-out. We feel like we’re unwrapping a present we’ve worked all year on. We want everything to go just right and we hope you love this year’s show!
We are so pleased that Disturbed chose Rockfest for their return to Kansas City! When they take the Monster Energy Stage May 14th, it will be five years to the day since they last played Kansas City. Yep, that show five years ago was Rockfest 2011. I heard Disturbed’s front man, David Draiman, address an industry convention telling a crowd of radio, record, and concert executives that Rockfest was the model for all to follow if the U.S. hopes to build a festival scene similar to Europe. Draiman cited the Rockfest formula; keep the tickets cheap, make sure the bands are great, have reasonable concession prices, and have the show in cool location where people can move about freely.
We hope you are as excited as we are about Rockfest 2016! That day is such a good time for everyone, the fans, the bands, and all of us at The Rock. It’s just fantastic to see 50,000 smiling faces having the time of their life! Your support of Rockfest is the only reason we can do this every year, and for that we sincerely thank you. Let’s keep Rockfest the biggest one-day music festival in America and get ready to blow it out May 14th!”
Remember, as Johnny Dare says: “2 beers, 1 water, great attitude”… see you in the pit!
