Concert Review – Nonpoint/Hed PE: The Million Watts Tour

 

Nonpoint hit Corpus Christi for part of the 2nd leg of the “The Million Watts Tour” with Hed PE and Dropout Kings. The previous success of the 1st leg paved the way for this second half with Hed PE and Dropout Kings.

Nonpoint made a return stop by House Of Rock with Dropout Kings and Hed PE, this was my third time seeing Nonpoint, 2nd time interviewing, and my 2nd time photographing Nonpoint. It’s always nice to have return artists and you can see how much they’ve enjoy their stay whether it be chillin along the Bayfront or having a slice! The 361 is in the 361!

House Of Rock in Corpus Christi was abuzz with energy as fans gathered to witness a triple-threat lineup of Dropout Kings, Hed PE, and Nonpoint. The anticipation was palpable as the crowd eagerly awaited the start of the show. Kicking off the night were Dropout Kings, a rising force in the nu-metal scene. With their high-octane performance and infectious energy, they quickly won over the crowd, setting the tone for an unforgettable night of music.The band’s interaction with the crowd was top-notch, with Riviere frequently jumping into the audience and performing from the floor, and the rest of the band encouraging moshing throughout the set. Dropout Kings’ performance at House of Rock was a testament to their growing popularity and their ability to deliver a high-energy, engaging live show that leaves fans wanting more.

As the stage was set for Hed PE, the crowd’s excitement reached a fever pitch. The veteran rap-rockers delivered a blistering set, with frontman Jared Gomes’ signature blend of hip-hop swagger and punk intensity electrifying the audience. The band’s eclectic sound, which seamlessly blends genres, had the crowd moshing and singing along in equal measure. Hed PE’s performance was a testament to their enduring legacy and ability to connect with fans of all ages.

Next up were Nonpoint, the headliners of the evening. With a career spanning over two decades, the Florida-based quartet has honed their craft to perfection. Their set was a masterclass in heavy music, with crushing riffs by Rasheed Thomas and Adam Woloszyn or pummeling drum work of Robb Rivera, and Elias Soriano’s soaring vocals. The band’s stage presence was electric, with each member feeding off the crowd’s energy and giving it back in spades. From classic hits to even new material. Nonpoint’s performance was a testament to their status as one of the most consistent and exciting acts in modern metal.

Throughout the night, the House Of Rock proved to be the perfect venue, with its intimate setting and top-notch sound system allowing the bands to shine. The crowd, a diverse mix of longtime fans and newcomers, was united in their enthusiasm, creating a palpable sense of community, camaraderie, because everyone I met were awesome people. As the night drew to a close, it was clear that this was a show that would be remembered.

Dropout Kings, Hed PE, and Nonpoint’s stop at House Of Rock was a resounding success, showcasing the best of modern heavy nu-metal music. Each band brought their unique sound and energy to the table, creating a night that was both a celebration of the genre and a testament to the power of live music.
