I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the best unsigned talent always seems to go unnoticed. However, this next band, From Ashes to New, has received some pretty heavy rotation on Sirius XM’s Octane, quite a few YouTube views and has a massive following as it is. They are a crossover group from Lancaster, PA who mix rap and rock in a way that is just almost too hard to believe. Think Hollywood Undead without the comical lyrics, mixed with Linkin Park and kick that notch up to 11! These guys have impressed me from the beginning and the release of their long-awaited debut self-titled EP just further proves that they are one of the best unsigned bands in the game right now!
Prior to releasing the EP, they released 3 tracks: “My Fight”, “Destruction of Myself” and “Live Again” which were released in the form of a demo. They threw 2 new songs into the mix with the new EP and now they’re ready with a release that is sure to make your ears happy and turn some heads. This EP is proof that bands can still have success on their own, without a label or management. The 2 new tracks, “Stay This Way” and “I Will Show You” are almost polar opposites of each other. “Stay This Way” seems to have a bit of a melancholy feel to it, while “I Will Show You” is more upbeat and is a middle finger to the haters. All 5 tracks are something that these guys can truly be proud of. Mixing rap and rock in a successful fashion isn’t always easy, but they definitely know what they’re doing! Vocalist Matt Brandyberry’s flows are pretty insane and his vocal and lyrical prowess is pretty much unmatched in anything that’s been released in the genre.
