Artist: Vultures
Album: Spiteful – Single
Rating: 3.5/5

FL’s Vultures is a one-man band that few know yet, but already have the power to be a household name. While they haven’t revealed much about themselves, outside of the fact that it’s one person doing it all, rest assured this artist is set to impress the masses. With his debut single, “Spiteful,” we get the first taste of his self-proclaimed “passion-core.” What is passion-core? Well, from my experience, it’s metalcore with true passion, rather than gimmicks. It’s a musician really giving it his all, breaking through the misconceptions about himself and bonding to the music to create a really aggressive, yet meaningful sound. That musician, who claims anonymity, has attempted to start many musical projects. For whatever reason, those bands haven’t quite worked out but it seems like his newest venture, Vultures, really has the ability to get it’s foot in the door.

A secret has it’s way of getting out and “Spiteful” will serve as the whisper in your ear that will get your blood pumping. For a debut single, it’s really strong but it also has it’s downfalls. While the mid-range screams from him are crisp, clear and get your blood boiling… it’s his lower screams that seem to suffer in this track. I won’t say that alone is entirely disappointing or can turn you away from the single, it’s quite impressive that he’s doing this all by himself. He’s worked tirelessly for months on this project and it’s far from a disappointment. His clean vocals aren’t boring or generic and the music itself is heavy as hell. Given the fact that we haven’t heard much from him since his last musical adventure on their latest single, it’s great to see him back on the scene. This is everything that a fan of modern metalcore could hope for and is anything but ordinary. It’s a safe bet that we’ll be keeping our eye on Vultures in the future, so, if you want to know more about what’s going on in that camp… keep it locked here!
