Falling Through April debut empowering new song and video, “Desperate Measures

Charlotte, NC alt-rockers Falling Through April premiering their dramatic new video for the song, “Desperate Measures.”

“‘Desperate Measures’ is a song about not letting someone else bring you down or control you,” says lead singer Mikaela Salazar, “that real ‘charmer’ that sneaks their way in and then you can’t get them out. It is an anthem for empowerment and just leaving those that try to drag you down behind.”

The single is the newest material from Falling Through April, following their independent releases Take Flight (2012) and Risk and Reward EP (2015). In the last two years, they have toured with bands such as the Pretty Reckless and Flyleaf, and have performed at festivals, including Warped Tour and SXSW.

“We traveled to a little town called Newnan in Georgia to shoot the music video for “Desperate Measures” — it’s in the same area they film The Walking Dead,” Salazar explains. “The set was on the grounds of this big textile manufacturing warehouse campus that seemed to never end. We actually needed an off-roading vehicle to move around. Filming was incredibly fun; the 18 hour days were not! There was even a point where people were literally falling asleep sitting in camping chairs in between takes.

“The hardest part about the whole process was making sure we caught the shots with the perfect lighting,” she continues. “Because we were outdoors for the story line part of the shoot, we were dealing with elements outside of our control, and if you miss that small window for ‘The perfect shot,’ you either wait until the next day or you don’t get it. We shot the video late spring, and even then Georgia is very humid. We were drenched with sweat throughout the entire process. That actually helped with getting into character a bit – we didn’t shower for like three days to really ‘look the part’ for the post-apocalypse, shanty town storyline scenes. Director Jon King and our entire crew were unbelievable. Everyone worked so hard around the clock to make this happen, and we couldn’t ask for a better team.”
