Inertia Calls for an End to Domestic Violence with “Guilty Crown” Music Video

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, “On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.” These figures are sad, shocking and REAL. California hard rock/post-hardcore outfit Inertia wants to do their part to put an end to it by encouraging victims to speak out, letting them know that they’re not alone and help is out there. We’re proud to help them in that fight by premiering their debut single and music video for “Guilty Crown.”
Vocalist/Pianist/Songwriter Dillon Forst had this to say about the message of the track:
“We know what it’s like to feel let down, abused and made to feel worthless, but there’s something more that can never be taken from us. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can always control how we respond. Respond with kindness, love, consideration and with each passing day we will make our world a more beautiful place together.”
He goes on to say: “This song is about learning to stand up for yourself and standing up for your friends when they can’t stand up for themselves. Domestic Violence is an ongoing issue and we wanted to talk about it through our melodies and our words about the damage that can be caused and how to recover from it. We’ve been there and we understand. This song is for everyone who hasn’t always been able to stand up for themselves. We are here for you.”
Inertia’s debut album The Process will be out soon and features guest vocals from Jonny Craig (Slaves), Joey Varela (Varsity) and Seth Cooper (SECRET EYES).
