Interview – Danny Worsnop – New Transcendence Radio – Danny Speaks About His Roots And Upcoming Tour
In a very different lane to the raucous heavy rock and metal Asking Alexandria are known for, Danny ‘s latest solo project is an
11 track Blues bonanza that provides the perfect landscape for the beautifully soulful side of Danny’s phenomenal vocal range and dexterous song-writing ability.
From the Clapton-esque guitar licks and bright organ bursts of previously released single “Little Did I Know“, to the heartbreaking ballads “Tomorrow” and “I’ve Been Down”, from the disco inspired horn blasts and rhythm guitars of ‘Keep On Lovin‘ to the gorgeous, smoky bar room duet “Edge of Goodbye” and the country tinged slide guitar of “Tell Her”.
“Shades of Blue” is an authentically honest body of work from one of this generations most remarkable vocalists.
New Transcendence Radio had a chance to sit down and have a few moments with Danny to talk about his core roots and his ever budding career. Danny will also be on North American tour run with Shinedown, Papa Roach and my friends in Savage After Midnight, so get your tickets when they hit.
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): Hi Danny, this is Toney with New Transcendence Radio, How are you?
Danny Worsnop: I’m great, heading to a show right now, and we are heading all over the world, and we are going to rock it!
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): Well, We wish you luck with that!
Danny Worsnop: Thanks!
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): I’m not sure where you want to start, but I will say /Blues/ and /Country/ what made you think of doing that?
Danny Worsnop: My roots is definitely the cause of that.
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): Where are your roots from?
Danny Worsnop: Nashville
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): I love Nashville, I had a vacation there and it was really great.
Danny Worsnop: It’s a good spot.
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): You are performing an amazing balancing act, maintaining your role as leadman for Asking Alexandria while keeping your solo career in a forward motion. How do you do it?
Danny Worsnop: You know, I feel like if I’m not doing something I’m slow. But I feel if I want to go to Bora Bora, or even jump on a tour with Asking Alexandria. I’m happy to have those choices to always have something constant. I always want to be accomplishing something and to be moving allows me to do that.
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): You just announced your second solo album, “Shades of Blue”, how does it compare to your previous album, “The Long Road Home”?
Danny Worsnop: Some people might call it ‘country’ and some might not like it at all, but I wanted to do something wholesome and close to my roots, cause that music paved the way for me and my career and without it, who knows where I would be. The thing is its different from say, Asking Alexandria, and you can take it for what it’s worth to you, the listener. I hope it’s received well and I’m excited about this tour!
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): Is there something you can reveal to everyone that they may not know?
Danny Worsnop: Hmmmm…The band Reel Big Fish helped us out! I think that was a pretty interesting fact you might not know.
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): Did things progress to the more Blues/Rock of “Shades Of Blue” than your prior country oriented, “The Long Road Home” – Was there a reason for the switch?
Danny Worsnop: I like to think of my songs individually, not necessarily a “label”, so to answer your question, While both albums can be classfied as whatever the listener hears, I prefer no labels between the two albums and classify them as original content on both ends
Toney Emmons (New Transcendence Radio): Can you give us a liner for everyone listening?
Danny Worsnop: Sure, this is Danny Worsnop, and you’re listening to the one and only, New Transcendence Radio!
Danny will be hitting the road for a 24 date headline tour of the US next month. Kicking off in Margate, FL on May 1 and culminating in Tampa, FL on May 30th.
