Interview with Joey Sourlis & Will Watson of Stories of Solitude

SOS promo

  • I’m sitting here with Joey Sourlis and Will Watson of Stories of Solitude. How are you guys?

  • Joey Sourlis

I’m good man, how are you doing?

  • Bear Stephens

Pretty great, sickness from yesterday has subsided so feeling a lot better. Let’s have you guys start off by introducing your role in the band

  • William Watchthis Watson

    I’m great man! How you!

I’m William Watson the drummer for Stories Of Solitude!

  • Bear Stephens

    Doing great buddy

  • Joey Sourlis

I’m Joey, and I’m the harsh vocalist for stories of solitude

  • Bear Stephens

Now, you guys are currently writing/recording your debut full-length, correct?

  • Bear Stephens

Tell us a little bit about it, is the working title still “Retribution”?

  • Joey Sourlis

Yes the working title is still retribution, and we hope to have the album released by winter. This full length will have me doing vocals, and is our first discography with the brand new line up, we currently have 3 songs off of the full length and two in the writing process. Basically, prepare for a whole new, awesome SOS!

  • Joey Sourlis

    Sorry, *3 recorded

  • William Watchthis Watson

Follwed along with a powerful message to connect with people s hearts!

  • Bear Stephens

I’ve heard a demo of one of the new tracks and I have to say that I’m truly impressed with the new sound. Will the rest of the album be similar to that track?

  • William Watchthis Watson

There’s going to be many different emotions for different situations that someone’s going through! Do there’s some heavy and some soft!

And me and craig is actually going to be recording a new acoustic song this weekend, about standing against bullying!

  • Bear Stephens

Any idea how many tracks will make the final cut? And who are you working with on production, mixing & mastering and things of that sort?

I look forward to hearing the acoustic track, very powerful subject to tackle

  • William Watchthis Watson

Mostly mike hart does all the mixing and mastering!

Even Craig Danielson does most of our production!

  • Bear Stephens

Joey, any input on that question buddy?

  • Joey Sourlis

We plan on having 10-12 songs on retribution. Basically, most of the messages from each song has personal back story from all of us, that can also relate to many. We plan on featuring Shawn from “this romantic tragedy” on one of our songs and we also have music video plans.

  • Bear Stephens

Wow, that sounds like it’s going to be a pretty great experience for the listener. What is your favorite song that you guys have worked on so far? (If you’re able to divulge)

  • Joey Sourlis

Umm, I’d honestly say the “semi final” cut of run for your life is my favorite

  • William Watchthis Watson

    I can’t decide! x) they’re all great!

  • Bear Stephens

Nothing wrong with that and is the cut of RFYL a lot different from the demo you guys have released?

  • Joey Sourlis

    Run for your life has underwent some changes in vocals and some synth. We will not relase it until our album drops, though we have released the demo. We “may or may not” release another song, but who knows c;

  • Bear Stephens

So once the album drops, do you guys have any touring plans? CD Release party, etc?

  • Joey Sourlis

    Yes, we do have a cd release show in plans but nothing for sure. As far as touring, I do not know because we actually have a record label looking at us, and I will not release the name of said label… But one can only “hope” we’ll get on it c;

  • William Watchthis Watson

I see what you did there!!!

  • Bear Stephens

Wow, sounds like you guys are moving up already! So did I, Will

  • Joey Sourlis

    Hahaha, but yeah we hope we can tour ASAP so we can show our music to people and maybe save lives c;

  • Bear Stephens

So you guys are shooting for a winter release, any chance you guys will have it ready for our exclusive review by, say…maybe the middle of October?

Your music has touched many lives, I’ve seen people talking about it quite a bit. Can’t wait to hear what’s next

  • Joey Sourlis

Quite possibly once will can move down here, we don’t have an official date of release yet, so maybe by October

  • Bear Stephens

haha, I’ll message you directly and tell ya why I asked after the interview.

  • William Watchthis Watson

    Between 1 & 3 months I’ll move up there!

  • Bear Stephens

Seriously can’t wait to hear it guys. It sounds like it’s coming together perfectly.

  • Joey Sourlis

    Hell yeah man

  • Bear Stephens

So, I guess I’ll wrap this up. Thank you so much for sitting and doing this with me, truly appreciate it. Is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers, your fans, and the general public?

  • Joey Sourlis

Yes, stay awesome guys! We love you so much and the music we write is for YOU!!!

You heard it first guys, there could be a major label backing this band for the release of “Retribution”! All we know for sure though is that this Winter is going to be one to remember!
