Interview with Nick Fultz from Stories of Solitude
-
Nick Fultz
I’m alright,and yourself?
-
Bear Stephens
Pretty great, happy to not feel so under the weather like I did yesterday lol. So, let’s start by having you introduce yourself and your role in the band?
-
Nick Fultz
I’m Nick and I play lead guitar
-
Bear Stephens
You guys are getting ready to release “Retribution” sometime later this year, correct?
-
Nick Fultz
yeah, its our debut and we’re currently in the writing process fo ri
for it*
-
Bear Stephens
I’ve gotten a little taste of a new track and I really enjoy the new sound, how has your experience been since joining the band and while writing the record so far?
-
Nick Fultz
oh being in Stories of Solitude is amazing man! We are really a tight knit brotherhood and that has made the writing go really smoothly so far
-
Bear Stephens
That’s good to hear, it’s always good when there’s no tention or minor tension within a band. Can you tell us a little bit about the direction of the album versus the EP?
-
Nick Fultz
the album is a bit heavier so far and incorporates a few more complex guitar leads. The recent change of Joey to vocals has also made a difference as he utilizes a different scream style then Jordan did
-
Bear Stephens
I agree, I love both Jordan and Joey’s styles. They both bring something great to the table and I hate to see Jordan leave, but I look forward to his other project Create the Affliction. It’s good to hear that the guitar parts are more complex so far as well, I loved the EP but it felt a bit lacking in that area, unfortunately
-
Bear Stephens
What has been your favorite track you guys have worked on so far?
-
Nick Fultz
I would have to say my favorite so far is “When Nightmares Are Better Than Reality” its about life getting so bad that you would rather have the worst nightmare than wake up to your life. It has a really deep meaning and I think it will help our fans see that they are not alone
-
Bear Stephens
I’ve gotten to hear a demo of that track and I truly think you’re right. It has a certain feel to it that I know fans will enjoy.
What or who inspired you to be a musician?
-
Nick Fultz
Well being a musician was pretty much my legacy since literally everyone on my father’s side of my family is musically inclined in some way. But I think the famous musician that gave me the most inspiration would probably be Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, his lead work is legendary
-
Bear Stephens
Dimebag is indeed an incredible guitarist, I’m sure he’s looking down giving you the horns at that answer haha.
What’s the most difficult part about playing guitar for you?
-
Nick Fultz
Well I’d say my biggest issue is currently that I don’t use my pinky enough and that severely limits my playing options
-
Bear Stephens
Keep working at it buddy, you can do it.
-
Nick Fultz
thanks man, yeah I’ve been working on it and its definitely improving
-
Bear Stephens
Do you guys have a CD release show planned for when the album drops?
-
Nick Fultz
not currently but we plan on getting that worked out soon
-
Bear Stephens
Sounds good buddy. I’m gonna wrap this up, but I’d like to thank you for sitting down and doing this with me. Is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers, your fans, and the general public?
-
Nick Fultz
To anyone reading this who wants to learn and instrument or start a band, just go for it. I’m living proof that dreams of being in a big band can come true and I hope anyone who is facing difficulties in life can channel it through music or any other form of self expression instead of bottling everything up or self harming. I love you guys and I’m proud that my music can be that escape for some people
-
Bear Stephens
Great words to live by brother. Thank you again!
