The Persevering Promise Tap Into Their Primal Nature With “Animals” Cover
Covers: They’re pretty common these days… the majority of them stick closer to the original. However, The Persevering Promise (Spokane, WA) have taken a major pop hit and thrown their own heavy twist onto it. If you’ve never heard these guys, they released a cover of Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” about a year ago as well as their debut full-length An Illusion In Shambles. The album features guest spots from Chad Ruhlig of For the Fallen Dreams, Shawn Spann of I, The Breather and Ronnie Winter of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and is, quite simply, one of the best post-hardcore albums out there. These guys have tapped into the primal nature of “Animals” and created something, I think, is worthy of Adam Levine and the rest of Maroon 5’s praise! Check it out, as well as the official press release (courtesy of High Road Publicity) below, pick up their album on iTunes here, Amazon here and physically here and be sure to go vote for them on Loudwire’s “Battle Royale” at the link provided. The band is currently working on their new album, armed with a slightly tweaked line-up, which has an unscheduled ETA but will possibly arrive before the end of the year.

As a band, we appreciate all different types of music. The thing about pop music is that its already musically set up to be heavily rhythm oriented and extremely catchy. We love to take a top 40 song and give it a metal makeover. Nothing like a little sccreaming and some double bass to make a pop song POP. – Jesse Barton
