Despite their inception occurring less than two years ago, Durham quintet The Second After are already quietly showing hints of an accomplished pop-punk band to come. The release of debut EP, “Hit and Run” in September 2015 displayed the raw potential of a band at immediate ease with not only each other, but the sound they are pursuing.
Incorporating individual influence from an eclectic range of genres from folk to metal, The Second After hone a bouncy pop-punk sound, with energetic and punchy undertones and a hook-laden presentation; nods to early purveyors of the genre as well as the band’s leading pop-punk contemporaries on display throughout with a layered balance of urgent and melodic.
