Review: Adley Stump – Ex To See (featuring Cliff Brown) (Single)
Artist: Adley Stump
Album: Ex to See (ft. Cliff Brown) – Single
Rating: 5/5
Covers – they’re not something that we feature too often, spare the occasional Punk Goes Pop release. However, when a country artist with a gorgeous voice like Adley Stump decides to take on a song like like Sam Hunt’s “Ex To See”… we just had to get involved. As we’re so used to hearing her singing empowering, uplifting and meaningful country songs… it kind of took me by surprise that she, along with Cliff Brown, took this track and turned it into their own. The track is, as the title suggests, a track about deceptions in a relationship. It hurts when someone you love leaves you, especially if you’re attached to them. Oftentimes, the idea of revenge is to make this person jealous. “Ex To See” is a track that explores this concept in depth and this new version includes a rapped verse from Brown. She and Brown took this country/top 40 hit and created a club hit out of it. Be honest, do you think you’d hear the original version of this track on the dance floor? Well, now, you can imagine that because it’s likely to happen. Adley is perhaps best known for her stint on Season 2 of “The Voice” in which she was part of Team Blake. Since then, though, she’s gone on to create anthemic songs like “Stay At Home Soldier,” her new album Like This (Deluxe Edition) was named “New and Noteworthy” by iTunes. In addition, she was the featured performer on the Miss USA telecast on the REELZ channel. She was also interviewed by Sam Alex for “Taste of Country Nights” twice, for both times she performed an acoustic set and her song “Stay At Home Soldier” has been in heavy rotation on radio/online since it’s release (34 plays per week on AOL’s “New Country First” channel and in 4000 retail stores nationwide).
