Review: Blood of the Martyrs – Completionist
Artist: Blood of the Martyrs
Album: Completionist
Rating: 10/10
It’s no secret that having a label is nice. Why wouldn’t it be? They give you the tools you need to be successful in a band. However, the bands who manage to achieve success entirely on their own, THOSE are the bands that you want to look out for. Blood of the Martyrs is the latter and they have come a LONG way since their debut EP. Their upcoming full-length, “Completionist”, feels well….complete. The band has worked a long time and put every ounce of blood, sweat and tears they have into this album. The result? A 36-minute sonic assault the likes of which you’ve never heard. From the intro, affectionately titled “Return to Spider Skull Island”, which transitions perfectly into the 2nd track, “Kano”, you feel like something epic is headed your way. When “Kano” begins, you’re gripping your seat and thrown back for the ride of your life! The album features guest spots from Karl Schubach of Misery Signals and Micah Kinard of Oh, Sleeper, which are definitely highlights of the album. The album is filled with breakdowns, gritty guitars and gut-wrenching screams, which we’ve come to expect from this group of guys. It’s when these things are all thrown together that we experience a purely perfect metal album. Another highlight of the album is the interlude, “H.E.L.P.e.R.”, which is electronically and piano-driven, just absolutely epic and fits the album perfectly. I don’t believe there is a single fan of the genre who will not enjoy this album. Go pick it up through Totaldeathcore (linked below) or your favorite digital retailer when it’s released on October 4th! You won’t be disappointed and you might even find a deeper appreciation for the band as a whole!
