Review: Breaking Benjamin – Failure (Single)
Artist: Breaking Benjamin
Album: Failure – Single
Rating: 4/5
What do you get when you take ex-members of Red, Adelitas Way, Picture Me Broken and Forever Ouevre, OurAfter and cross them with one of hard rock’s most prolific front men? If you said the new line-up of Breaking Benjamin, you’d be correct! Coming off of a long-winded lawsuit, the band has returned in full form with the release of their new single, “Failure”. This song could serve as a b-side to their 2006 release, Phobia. It’s well-written, it’s emotional and it brings every single thing you’ve loved about the band in the past back into the spotlight. This is the precursor to their long-awaited 5th studio album, Dark Before Dawn, out this June. Now, I can’t really say that this isn’t anything the band hasn’t done in the past… but it goes to show that, even coming off of (what seemed like) the end of the band, that they still have what it takes to stand aside the titans of their genre! My take on the song is that it focuses on what it felt like to Ben when the band fell out, back in 2010 when the original members went their separate ways. It also speaks of how the band will rise to power, once again, despite all odds. It’s quite apparent from the first single that Dark Before Dawn will be one of the most anticipated, possibly best, releases of 2015. Be sure to keep an eye out for them, catch them on tour (see dates below) and check out “Failure” below! Most importantly, head over to iTunes and pre-order your copy of Dark Before Dawn out June 23rd on Hollywood Records!
