Review: Bright Light Bright Light – I Wish We Were Leaving
Artist: Bright Light Bright Light
Album: I Wish We Were Leaving
Rating: 5/5
It’s not often that an Electropop musician catches my attention (and ironically, it’s usually the European ones that do) but Rod Thomas (aka Bright Light Bright Light) is a shining exception. His new EP, I Wish We Were Leaving contains 3 new tracks (one being the title track) and 2 pretty killer remixes. I’m particularly fond of the title track, though, because it features the legendary Sir Elton John. The reason I’m not too fond of the genre, in general, is because it seems to be overrun with money hungry musicians who know nothing about what it takes to really reach out, connect and interact with their fans. Thomas is incredibly gifted musically and it shows on each of the 3 tracks, which range from elements of dubstep, electronica and pop but are heartfelt lyrically, delivering a pretty impressive molotov cocktail of greatness all wrapped into about a 25-minute EP. One of the coolest things is getting to hear Sir Elton John’s voice over the remixed tracks… it adds a whole new element to everything we’ve come to love about him. One thing is for certain, I will be looking for more to come from him and I would advise you to do the same. Be sure to pick up I Wish We Were Leaving out now and check out the video for the title track below!
