Review: Kings of Leon – Mechanical Bull

Mechanical Bull

Artist: Kings of Leon
Album: Mechanical Bull
Rating: 9.5/10

Nashville’s Kings of Leon are no strangers to the rock scene. They’ve put out many albums, each experimenting a little more. Their last album, “Come Around Sundown” was about as relaxing an album as it gets. Every track felt like something you could listen to down by the beach, sipping a  Corona and watching the sunset over the water. The follow-up album, “Mechanical Bull”, however gets a little more down and dirty. With more of a down-home southern vibe to it, “Mechanical Bull” is full of tracks that will have you singing along to the top of your lungs. Instrumentally, this album feels pretty simple, but if you were to try and disect it, you would realize that it goes deeper than you can imagine. The debut single, “Super Soaker” is a Summer anthem for the ages, while “Beautiful War” is a ballad like no others. The album ranges from anywhere to semi-hard rock all the way down to soft/indie rock and everywhere in between. It’s not hard to see why this band wins Grammy awards. Their innovation is unmatched, their sound is untouchable and their experience is unstoppable. With each and every album, these boys know how to take you on a journey and “Mechanical Bull” lives up to it’s name. Bucking and slowing at just the right points, it’s an album that will climb into the hearts of millions very easily. If you’ve ever been a fan of Kings of Leon or even if you’ve just liked a few songs they’ve put out, you will find yourself loving all that “Mechanical Bull” has to offer. Do yourself a favor and pick up your copy of “Mechanical Bull” on RCA Records when it comes out on Tuesday, September 24th and hold on for the ride of your life!
