Review: Roses Unread – Fallen (Single)
Artist: Roses Unread
Album: Fallen – Single
Rating: 4.5/5
While their previous, self-titled album seemed to be a little bit on the lighter side, it appears that Tennessee hard rock outfit, Roses Unread, has taken a turn towards the dark side! While Alison Purifoy’s vocals still soar, there is a yet unknown screamer beneath it all, perfectly complimenting it for an angel/devil type vibe This is perfectly fitting, being that the single I’m referring to is their latest “Fallen”, which comes from their upcoming full-length, The Silver Lining to be released this Spring. The song, lyrically, seems to be about falling off the path of righteousness and the intro is heavily reminiscent of older Breaking Benjamin material. Heavy guitars and pounding drums give way to these two contrasting vocal types and makes for something a lot different from what they’ve done in the past. So… it begs the question, what’s in store for the rest of the album? Can we expect more of this heavy style or was this a one time thing? Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until this Spring to find out… but you can bet one thing, we will be on this cloud, looking for The Silver Lining. The single will be up on iTunes soon!
