Review: Still Remains – Close to the Grave
Artist: Still Remains
Album: Close to the Grave – Single
Rating: 5/5
Still Remains broke up in mid 2008, reunited in 2011 for one final show and went off the map. In 2012, the band announced plans to record one final album for the fans who have been asking for it. With the help of Kickstarter, the band launched a campaign especially for this. In the end, the band came out at almost $5,000 over their $15,000 goal! It’s been a long, tedious process waiting for this album but today, we finally got a taste of what they’ve been working on! Their new single “Close to the Grave” was released and boasts being one of the heaviest songs on their new album, “Ceasing to Breathe” which will see a December 17th release! The track is a return to their roots but it also features some of the best clean vocals I’ve heard from vocalist TJ Miller in quite awhile! This song is well-rounded on all fronts and ready to blow your mind! If you’ve ever been a fan of the band, especially the heavier side of them, you will definitely want to check out “Close to the Grave”! It’s one of the most well-written, well-executed tracks I’ve ever heard from the band. To think that this was entirely because of fans like myself is just absolutely astounding! If you contributed to the Kickstarter campaign, just know you are definitely getting your money’s worth so far! It only promises to get better with the rest of the album! d! For those who could not contribute to the campaign, fear not! The band has announced that once their new merch store is up, physical copies of “Ceasing to Breathe” will be available for pre-order!
