7-piece melodic hardcore outfit What Wings Once Held are rising stars in a world full of generic, cookie-cutter bands in their genre. They recently contacted me about reviewing their new single “Unlimited”. This song shows an incredible musical and lyrical growth in the band and is an example of what a great metal song should be. The song is about not letting your ego rule your life and actions. We’re met initially with a few electronic bass hits and then the track explodes with ferocity and incredible musicianship. The chorus is beautiful and meaningful, yet infectious as though it could fit in a pop song. This band is going places and I hope to continue to be on the ride with them.
