Humanity is a disgusting race, untrustworthy, corrupt, hypocritical and doing the most horrible things, all in the name of some religion or for power.
Humanity needs to be eradicated by some evil and merciless ancient being by the most brutal means imaginable, not because its the most logical thing to do, but just because it can!
This is ‘Hate’ in a nutshell, the latest effort by Australian deathcore giants Thy Art Is Murder, fans will know that this band is proof that Australia can spawn more than kangaroos and silly accents.
Being a band that always has been known for vigorously making the most sickest and hatefull metal, 2012 brings you an album that is possibly the most hate-filled work that TAIM has ever created,
maybe even surpassing the critically acclaimed EP ”Infinite Death”.
Personally I think ”Hate” is a step up from the previous album ”The Adversary” which was critized by many for being a enjoyable but monotone death metal album,
while this album MIGHT seem similar in many ways its in fact more complex and better executed, in every aspect.’Hate’ is another one of those albums that needed some time to grow on me, you cant hear it all in one listen.
Creating a nice fusion between technical death metal and deathcore, ”Hate” ensures to keep your undivided attention, lightning fast shredding and equally relentless drumming are combined with signature deathcore breakdowns.
Also the vocals have improved greatly compared to the last album, since old vocalist Brendan Van Ryn left Chris “CJ” McMahon had some pretty big shoes to fill but on this new release I can hear more effort and diversity than ever before.
These improved raw and deep grunts go perfectly with the best element of ”Hate” which are the lyrics, topics cover every aspect of humanity there is to hate on: religion, politics, society, failure as a species and pretty much everything having to do with humanity. Yes this is not the first band that makes music around these topics, and it most certainly wouldn’t be the last, but the way Thy Art Is Murder gets the message across is just amazing, perfectly executed hate in music form is the only way I can describe this.
Being somewhat misanthropic myself I agree with their hatred and disgust and I just cant get enough of this shit!
My favorite tracks on this album include: Reign of Darkness, The Purest Strain of Hate, Vile Creations, Dead Sun, Gates of Misery and Doomed From Birth, now I could get all technical and break every song down as I try to explain all the different parts of each song but instrumental wise all of them are equally brutal, instead I advise you to look up the lyrics, put the stereo on max and scream along to all the songs until you know all the words, then go visit your local church and show the good people there what you have learned. 🙂
Final thoughts:
With a release that rivals ”Infinite Death” and the best work the current line up has released to date, Thy Art Is Murder made an album that Satan himself would be proud of.
Its not the most innovative or refreshing release of the year, but the beastly energy ”Hate” generates makes it a very solid metal experience.
It speaks for itself that if you like death metal and/or deathcore, or just hate everything in general you should go listen to this album.
Turn up the hate and start moshing!
